Ram Mandir Inauguration

Ram Mandir Inauguration: Congress on Wednesday announced that it will not be attending the inauguration of Ayodhya Ram Mandir that is scheduled on 22nd January 2024.

Congress accused the RSS/BJP of converting the event into an RSS/BJP event. In our nation, Lord Ram is one of the most important deities people worship. Religion is a deeply personal choice. However, the Ayodhya temple has long been a political agenda for the RSS/BJP, claimed Congress.

Congress received Invitation of Ram Mandir Inauguration

Congress passed a statement justifying their reason for boycotting the event. The statement states,” Last month, the Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson, Smt. Sonia Gandhi and the Leader of the Congress Party in the Lok Sabha, Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, received an invitation to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya to be held on January 22nd, 2024.

Lord Ram is worshiped by millions in our country. Religion is a personal matter. But the RSS/BJP have long made a political project of the temple in Ayodhya. Ram Mandir inauguration of the incomplete temple by the leaders of the BJP and the RSS has obviously been brought forward for electoral gain.

Congress President Declined Ram Mandir Invitation

While abiding by the 2019 Supreme Court judgment and honoring the sentiments of millions who revere Lord Ram, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury have respectfully declined the invitation to what is clearly an RSS/BJP event ”.

Congress states that Sonia Gandhi, Adhir Rajan Chowdhury, Mallikarjun Kharge would not attend the event. In the statement issued, general secretary Jairam Ramesh said that the RSS/BJP has made Ram Mandir a“ Political Project”.

Congress also claimed that construction of Ram Mandir still not complete. They accused the BJP of using Ram Mandir for their electoral gains.

Hence, they respectfully decline the invite. Nonetheless, the party and its leaders support the 2019 Supreme court ruling. Amid different opinions among various INDIA bloc partners, the party issued a statement to put an end to all the rumors over the Congress’s position on Ram Mandir.

In response to the statement passed by Congress, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi stated that all the accusations are false.

On January 11, the BJP attacked the Congress for refusing to send its three top officials to the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, saying this revealed the party’s deep-seated hostility to Hinduism and Indian culture.

BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi told reporters that the Congress had gone to the length of opposing the nation and is now against God due to its feelings of “jealousy, malice and inferiority complex” towards Narendra Modi.

He claimed that although the Ram temple in Ayodhya represents the best aspects of Indian customs and culture, radical politics is more important to the Congress and other opposition parties that share his viewpoint.

He accused congress of just try to create hurdles during any historical moment for the country, whether it’s enactment of GST, inauguration of the new parliament building or Ram Mandir inauguration.
